Frequently Asked Questions
01. What equipment does my child need to play soccer?
All soccer players must have shin guards, soccer shorts, and approved cleats. Shin guards must be worn under the socks. The socks hold the shin guards in place preventing injury. Players should also bring water or a sports drink to practice as well, and they are welcome to bring their own ball to practice as long as it is the appropriate size (Clinic - size 3, U9-U12 - size 4, U15 - size 5).
If players DO NOT have SHIN GUARDS, they will not be allowed to practice or play in a game, as stated in the ESSL Rules.
02. When will we hear from our child's coach?
Teams are formed in late July and coaches normally have their rosters by the end of July. Coaches will normally contact their players around the first week of August.
03. When and where will our child practice and play games?
Practice schedules are left up to the player's coach. Most teams will practice 2 nights per week at various fields in the Dublin Darlington Area. Coaches may reduce practice days as the season progresses.
U9 thru U15 Games are played on Saturdays, from late August through the end of October, with an occasional weeknight game if there is a scheduling conflict or makeup game. An end-of-season ESSL tournament, for U9 through U15 teams, is played the first and sometimes second weekend of November to close out the season.
Dublin Darlington home fields are located at Francis Silver Park, Emma Rocky Park, and Darlington Elementary School. Teams will also play away games at various fields throughout Harford County and eastern Baltimore County. All Clinic games are played "in-house" against other DDSC clinic teams on Friday evenings at Francis Silver Park in Darlington.
